Preview Panel Remembers Your Preference
When composing comments in Remarkbox, you can toggle the live markdown preview panel open or closed. As of January 2026, Remarkbox now remembers your preference.
How It Works
- Close the preview once and it stays closed for all comment forms on the page
- Your preference persists across page loads using your browser's localStorage
- Open the preview again to restore the default behavior
This means if you prefer to write without the preview visible, you only need to close it once. Remarkbox will remember your choice until you decide to open it again.
Why This Matters
Some users find the live preview helpful while composing, while others prefer a distraction-free writing experience. Previously, the preview would reset to open each time you loaded a page or started a new comment. Now your preference sticks.
Technical Details
The preference is stored locally in your browser under the key remarkbox-preview-hidden. No data is sent to any server—this is purely a client-side feature. Clearing your browser's localStorage will reset the preference to the default (preview open).
